November 15, 2005 - Album 1

The Responsphere Team aided in the design and execution of a campus-wide full scale earthquake exercise at the UC San Diego campus.

September 22, 2005 - Album 2

This drill was located on the UC Irvine campus and tested the instrumented space of the Calit2 Building at UCI. The pictures in Album 2 were captured by building sensors. These sensors allow us to address one of our Grand Challenges to post-process video data sets and discover agent behavior and anomalies.

May 14, 2005 - Album 3

Members of the Responsphere Team participated in the Southern California Emergency Medicine Symposium, held in Irvine, California. The Symposium organizers sponsored the 2nd annual emergency medicine conference and disaster drill. The drill scenario was a three car collision that resulted in a hazardous materials spill, a number of trauma and chemical exposure casualties. First responders from the Orange County Fire Department, Orange County HazMat Team, and UC Irvine HazMat Team were present and/or training at this event. In addition to the drill, symposium organizers conducted a number of emergency medicine workshops and provided booths for industry vendors. Video clips from the drill can be downloaded here (850 mb zipped).

March 21, 2005 - Album 4

In cooperation with the Orange County Fire Department, UCI Campus Search and Rescue, and UCI Environmental Health and Safety, the Responsphere Team participated in a UCI Campus HazMat Drill. The team instrumented the entire space with Wi-Fi and streamed dynamic feeds of audio, video, GPS data, incident reports, and pictures back to the Emergency Operations Center (EOC). These feeds were incorporated into the Responsphere/RESCUE web-based situational awareness and analysis system providing real-time event information to operations personnel and decision makers. Additionally, the team embedded several reserachers with the first responders in order to experience the exercise first hand. A short overview video from this drill can be downloaded here (22 mb). Raw video data from sensors can be downloaded here (1.5 gigs zipped).

March 14, 2005 - Album 5

The Responsphere Team participated in a UC Irvine Evacuation of the Environmental Health and Safety office. The team embedded serveral social scientists and computer scientists within the drill and conducted many interviews after the drill's completion. During the drill, data was streamed into a mock Emergency Operations Center (EOC) set up in the RESCUE offices. Raw video data from sensors can be downloaded here (212 mb zipped).
